Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and essential carpentry skills, knowledge, and advanced techniques of carpentry. Also emphasizes safety practices, project management, and the integration of modern technology within traditional carpentry practices with a blend of classroom instruction, hands-on projects, and real-world applications to shape the futures of aspiring tradespeople.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Certification in vocational education or training
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Specialized knowledge of carpentry, construction, and trades
Proficient in using carpentry tools and equipment
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to supervise carpentry/construction field experiences
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
