QUALIFICATIONS

  Required

• Bachelors degree in a related educational field

• Valid Texas Teacher’s Certification Education in English as a Second Language

• Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level

• Experience with the design, development, and implementation of Secondary language acquisition for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students

• Experience with the design, development, & implementation of EB-focused professional development

• Experience with sheltered instruction or language acquisition strategies at multiple grade levels

• Experience in culturally responsive pedagogy

• Experience with providing linguistic support to special EB populations such as SIFE, Asylee/Refugee, and Newcomers

Preferred

• Master’s degree in the relevant educational field

• High school ELA/ELAR experience

Special Knowledge & Skills

• Skills providing leadership in the use of instructional technology resources to enhance language development and overall learning

• Familiarity with the design, development, and implementation of course content

• Knowledge of the design, development, and implementation of professional development

• Strong presentation skills

• Expertise in second language acquisition, sheltered instruction, and culturally responsive pedagogy

• Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of Title III federal program regulations and requirements
