THE OPPORTUNITY
YES Prep needs a dynamic Senior Financial Analyst, with a diverse set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. To put it simply, you will play a key supporting role in helping us accomplish this vision by providing financial analysis and scenario modeling to guide decisions of YES Prep’s senior leadership team. With exceptional performance, the Senior Analyst position will be a growth role that can lead to promotion opportunities within the organization.
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:
- Leading periodic budget analysis reviews and performing budget forecasts to determine areas of concern and provide recommendations to Director of Financial Planning and CFO.
- Supporting and informing a cohort of budget managers with timely data about spending, planning, and other financial matters.
- Reviewing and revising budget target calculations to ensure equitable allocation of resources across campuses and subpopulations.
- Compiling and evaluating annual budgets.
- Creating annual budget templates and developing communications/training materials to help budget managers throughout the budgeting process.
- Delivering excellent budget development and management training to various stakeholders.
- Supporting preparation of financial presentations for the YES Prep Board of Directors and the YES Prep Board Finance Committee
- Preparing and leading presentations to YES Prep Chiefs on pressing financial matters, as needed.
- Annually reviewing the sustainability of YES Prep’s major cost drivers (and most importantly our campus staffing model). Recommending changes where necessary to ensure long-term sustainability and scalability.
- Performing planning, forecasting, and economic modeling. Creating and modifying financial models for strategic decision-making, scenario analysis, fundraising, and other organizational needs.
- Building close working relationships with other members of Home Office Team to ensure ongoing exchanges of best practices, coordination of efforts, and general support for the finance/accounting department.
- Recommending and implementing continuous improvement in the annual budget process
- Exercising a long-term perspective to planning in the context of Government regulations.

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a Financial Analyst or similar position
- Exceptional analytical skills, including the ability to work with complex financial models

THE NICE TO HAVES
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or other relevant field
- 3 or more years of professional experience in an Analyst or similar position
- Non-profit and/or public finance experience
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office programs
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously
- Strong communication, influence and relationship-building skills
- Ability to toggle between 50,000-ft. perspective and the nitty-gritty

- Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
- Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
