We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

 

 

 

Job Summary:

Direct day-to-day management of construction programs to include Construction Management, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Construction Safety and Computer Aided Drafting and the transportation trade bar at the Collin Technical Campus. Maintain accreditation standards as well as meet compliance with SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) standards and principles. Facilitate staffing, assist with budget preparation and maintenance, provide leadership and coordination for curriculum development, recruitment, advising, and program marketing.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate with the Academic/Workforce Dean in strategic and academic cycle planning at the college, division, program, advisory committee and course levels, including development and maintenance of internships, apprenticeships and experiential learning relationships with construction related businesses designed to augment the academic programs.
  • Develop the master schedule to maximize utilization of classrooms and laboratories for the safe, effective and efficient delivery of instruction for high school dual credit, regular college credit and continuing professional development to industry professionals.
  • Direct day to day management and evaluation of the programs, faculty and staff, facilities and resources to accomplish safe and effective program delivery and coordination of division activities and projects.
  • Will teach one class per academic year.

  • Develop and maintain industry partnerships and alliances for the benefit of the programs and students. Provide support for active industry advisory committees as required by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and accrediting agencies. Regularly meet off-site with industry employers as needed to promote internships, apprenticeships and post-graduation job placement.
  • Develop a plan to achieve ACCE accreditation (and other accreditation as warranted) for the Construction Management and related programs, oversee preparation of the application for accreditation and on-site evaluation, and ensure that all accreditation standards are met on an ongoing basis. Maintain required records in accordance with the accrediting agencies. Ensure that program practices comply with college policy and comply with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board standards.
  • Assist the in the on-going, systematic evaluation of the division, program, curriculum, learning resources, and student learning outcomes including production and preservation of program/student records.
  • Facilitate management and planning of program budget. Work with the Dean to make budget requests and recommendations. Ensure program remains within identified budgets. Assist the Dean in the fiscal planning and management of the program and its resources.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained as required for warranties and for safe operation and optimal learning outcomes. Maintain accurate equipment and tool inventories and prepare supplemental budget requests and justification as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete program records including curriculum and resource evaluation and development, systematic evaluation, course evaluation, student evaluation, and accreditation documents.
  • Assist the Dean in the operation of faculty search committees and recommend to the dean full-time faculty, associate faculty and staff hires.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, plus stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Occasional physical effort required.
 
Requirements
Associate degree in construction trades with five (5) years of experience as a skilled construction trade professional. Three (3) years of teaching experience in construction management or construction related fields at the high school or college level is required.

Five (5) years of work experience in the construction industry.

 

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in construction management

Supervisory experience

 

Licenses and Certifications
Valid Texas Driver's License* and insurability with the college's insurance carrier.

 

*Individuals hired for this position may be required to drive a company vehicle. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be run in conjunction with the background check during the contingent offer stage and annually/bi-annually for the duration of employment at Collin College. Candidates who fail the original background/MVR report or subsequent MVR reports may not be hired and/or terminated based on the results of the report.
