We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

 

  Job Summary:

Manage and promote Fire Science Workforce programs within state regulatory guidelines and accreditation standards. Implement fiscal management of program resources. Hire, schedule, and maintain sufficient staffing resources for safe and effective program delivery and coordination. Manage student admission, progression, and successful completion in these special admissions programs.

 

 Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate with the academic/workforce dean in strategic and academic cycle planning at the college, division, program, advisory committee and course levels, including development and maintenance of experiential and clinical affiliation agreements and clinical and experiential partnerships to augment the academic program.
  • Will teach one class per academic year. Teach courses as assigned and allowed by professional regulatory agencies.
  • Supervise day to day management and evaluation of the program, full-time and associate faculty and staff, facilities, and resources to accomplish safe and effective program delivery and coordination of division activities and projects.
  • Participate with the academic/workforce dean in the on-going, systematic evaluation of the division, program, curriculum, learning resources, and student learning outcomes including production and preservation of program/student records.
  • Participate with the academic/workforce dean in the fiscal planning and management of the program and its resources.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance associated with the program's field of practice and education, including implementation of college policy and division and program procedures, compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordination Board standards, and compliance with appropriate regulatory and educational accreditation standards including production of accreditation self-study documents and reports.
  • Participate in faculty search committees and recommend full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff hires to the dean.
  • Foster positive human relations and teamwork among faculty, staff, students, and across all programs and college services.
  • Manage appropriate student admission, advisement, progression, graduation, certification, and licensing processes for the program.
  • Maintain accurate and complete program records including curriculum and resource evaluation and development, systematic evaluation, course evaluation, student evaluation, and accreditation documents.
  • Attend and participate in professional development activities and participate in service to the college, including college graduation.

  • Knowledge of facility and equipment usage during instruction
  • Knowledge of the college's HR Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

  • Knowledge of college policy and division and program procedures
  • Knowledge of Texas Higher Education Coordination Board standards

  • Ability to communicate with area community leaders and government officials effectively

 
Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Occasional physical effort required.
 


Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and five (5) years of fire service or directly related experience required.

Two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
 
Licenses and Certifications
Fire Instructor III, Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
