PRIMARY PURPOSE
Oversee district efforts in the areas of positive behavior system and discipline management, student attendance, and transfer process. Assist with hearing and resolving student and parent complaints. Implement systems to support organizational operations focused on student outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree in educational administration from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas Principal certification or equivalent
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to student discipline and attendance
- Knowledge of positive discipline support programs
- Ability to disseminate information to individuals and groups
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and laws
- Ability to deliver effective training to a variety of audiences
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to mediate, problem solve, and resolve conflict

Five years of experience as an educator administrator
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Student Discipline Management
- Manage the district’s admissions, transfer, discipline, and residency process.
- Coordinate the district-wide anti-bullying character education program and student mentor program.
- Provide staff development for classroom management and restorative practices.
- Serve on behavior threat assessment team.
- Coordinate response to the anonymous tip line in the area of responsibility.
- Review, update, and publish the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Assist campus administrators with fair and consistent administration of discipline policies and discretionary disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) placements.
- Monitor discipline trends and work with campus administrators to develop campus discipline improvement plans to address student needs in the areas of attendance and discipline.
- Address parent concerns related to discipline and campus administrative decisions.
- Conduct thorough, impartial investigations.
- Develop and present training to campus administrators regarding student discipline and Texas Education Code Chapter 37.
- Serve as the district Title IX Coordinator.
Community Relations
- Develop and maintain programs that work to strengthen home/school connections.
- Work with community agencies to support positive behavioral choices for students and positive consequences.
- Support parent referrals to outside agencies for assistance.
Student Attendance
- Work with campus administrators to recognize attendance trends and concerns.
- Ensure timely notifications to parents regarding concerns with student attendance.
- Support campus administrators and parents in following truancy laws.
Administration
- Develop and complete cross-functional collaborative teams to identify and create systems, as needed, to support effective and efficient campus and district operations.
- Mentor assistant principals across the district.
- Coordinate development of and maintain up-to-date information for district handbooks, policies, procedures, and guidelines, in areas of responsibility as assigned.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable accounting records.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of assigned staff.
