Job Summary:
Assist all new and current employees with their Benefits enrollment and changes. Process and maintain various Human Resource/Benefits records, including new hire enrollment, Benefit changes, deduction calculations, discrepancy resolution files, retirement documents, Leave documents, and other Benefit-related Human Resource (HR) documents.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate with current and potential employees regarding HR/Benefits processes, procedures, and systems. Assist employees in resolving questions and concerns related to their Benefits. Scan, index, and retrieve various documents into/from the college’s document management system.
- Generate and compile daily, weekly and monthly transaction reports from ERS and HRIS to analyze, audit, reconcile and resolve discrepancies. Collaborate with the Payroll department and share these results to provide timely and accurate deductions for payroll processing.
- Interface with various internal and external systems (HRIS, TRS, ERS, etc.) to calculate monthly compensation and benefit deductions. Enter this information and employee data in the Employee Retirement System of Texas (ERS) system to process benefit events throughout the lifecycle of an employee.
- Continuously develop and implement solutions to improve Benefit related processes, resolve discrepancies and correct HRIS processing errors.
- Prepare the communication and payment/premium information for current employees on Leave to ensure accurate Benefit premium billing and collection tracking.
- Present and assist with New Hire Orientations and Summer Enrollment presentations.
- Maintain retirement knowledge related to TRS, ORP, FICA Alternative Plan, 403(b) and Texa$aver 457 to assist with enrollment and transfer of funds.
- Maintain knowledge of Leave, FML, ADA and ACA laws to assist with internal processes and requirements.
- Collect information/data as needed to prepare reports and files for internal and external college customers, ensuring all documents required for each process are complete and accurate.
- Review, research, and audit reports and employee information for accuracy. Contact appropriate supervisors, departments, or employees to resolve discrepancies.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.
Required
Associate degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and business experience.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Workday experience.
Equivalency Language
Two (2) additional years of experience may be substituted to meet the education requirement.
Licenses and Certifications
PHR or SHRM Certification preferred.
