JOB DESCRIPTION:
Contract Length: 187 Days
Provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in a creative manner that is designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Promotes the mission and vision of the district.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Possesses a solid knowledge of lesson cycle(s).
Employs strong classroom management skills and creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Prepares lessons that are data driven and reflect accommodations for individual differences.
Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and goals of the school.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Assesses the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Refers students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Makesprovisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes.
Maintains open lines of communication.
Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for support staff and works with department heads.
Maintains and improves professional competences.
Develops and maintains technological skills to facilitate instruction.
Participates in district staff development.
Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
One or more years teaching experience
Strong knowledge of reading, writing, literacy development, and/or math
Goodcommunication skills in a professional manner both orally and in writing
Ability to show empathy and effectively build relationships
Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Master’s degree preferred
Texas Teacher Certificate
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains good attendance and is punctual and reliable.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.

Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, bend, climb, and/or be mobile.
Ability to travel throughout the district and city by means of private or public transportation. If driving personal (or private) vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
