EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters Degree
Five years of experience as a campus principal
Demonstrated history of improving student academic outcomes
CERTIFICATION:
Valid Principal, Principal as Instructional Leader, or Mid-Management Certification by the State Board for Educator Certification
Valid Superintendent Certification preferred, but not required
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate by the State Board for Educator Certification
Valid Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS) Certification by the Texas Education Agency
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:
Responsible for effectively coaching and mentoring the administration of assigned elementary/secondary school campuses in the District so that student achievement improves as indicated on the state assessment. Works effectively with the different Departments in the Division of Instruction and Campus Administration.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists the Chief of Schools & Leadership with providing leadership, administrative consultation and guidance to campus administrative staff.
2. Assists the assigned principals in developing, planning, implementing and evaluating instructional programs.
3. Assists the assigned principals to work with student data that guides instructional work at the campus.
4. Assists in the development and periodic review of the District Instructional Improvement Plan.
5. Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of the Campus Instructional progress.
6. Receives, investigates and responds to complaints and concerns from the public regarding students, teachers, counselors, and administrators at the discretion of the Chief of Schools.
7. Assists the Chief of Schools in resolving administrative problems referred to his/her office.
8. Responsible for hearing grievances as outlined in Board Policy FNG.
9. Assists the Chief of Schools with Board agenda, policy and regulation manuals.
10. Responsible for representing and/or serving as Chairperson of the Administrative Review Committee of the North East Independent School District at student expulsion hearings.
11. Develops, streamlines and makes recommendations to the Chief of Schools to standardize central office and campus level processes.
12. Assists the Chief of Schools in identifying problems and responding to campus needs in a timely manner.
13. Assists the Chief of Schools in building cohesiveness and enhancing communication between the central office and campus based administrators.
14. Serves as liaison between the Divisions of Instruction and Campus Administration, Operations, and Business Services.
15. Initiates and monitors administrative staff development and provides support and professional growth opportunities for District administrators under the direction of the Chief of Schools.
16. Participates in all School Board Meetings as deemed appropriate by the Chief of Schools.
17. Assists the Chief of Schools with the evaluation of the performance of administrative staff supervised and the performance of their respective administrative functions.
18. Assists the Chief of Schools in the selection of administrative staff positions for all schools and departments supervised.
19. Assists the Chief of Schools with providing support and administrative growth opportunities for campus administrators.
20. Plans and conducts District-wide group or committee meetings as needed and determined by the Chief of Schools.
21. Assists the Chief of Schools with and participates in public relations/information activities.
22. Visits schools and departments on a regular basis to observe the operation of various programs and reports back to the Chief of Schools.
23. Prepares and submits reports and other documents as required by the Chief of Schools.
24. Maintains confidentiality of information.
25. Frequently required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
26. Reports to work every day.
27. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of instructional leadership
• Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices in management and supervision
• Demonstrated knowledge of campus discipline management
• Demonstrated skill in facilitating of programs and meetings
• Knowledge of classroom management
• Knowledge of proceedings for Board presentations regarding Student Grievances and Student Expulsion Hearings
• Demonstrated ability to apply educational leadership techniques, curriculum and professional development knowledge and practices in administration and supervision
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school employees, state and federal agencies, the public and office employees
• Strong foundation in curriculum and professional development
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with a driving record that meets the requirements of the District
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
