QUALIFICATIONS
 
          Required:
 

  • Bachelor's degree in education or subject-related field.
  • Master's degree in education or subject-related field preferred.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification.
  • Texas Administrative Certification preferred.
  • ESL Certification or endorsement preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful Science experience as a teacher.
  • Experience in Curriculum Development, Coaching, and District or State level Professional Development experience preferred.

 
 
        Special Knowledge & Skills:
 

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Knowledge of best practice strategies.
  • Knowledge of instructional technology.
  • Ability to interpret data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

 
      Major Responsibilities and Duties:
 

  • Work with the executive director of leadership to improve campus instructional delivery, spending approximately 80% of their time working directly on campuses.
  • Regularly analyze assessment data and allocate appropriate support personnel and resources based on on-campus needs.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of leadership and campus administrative teams to ensure effective and consistent implementation of the Academic Acceleration Plan
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement.
  • Support the implementation of professional learning communities and assist teachers in developing appropriate strategies for addressing student and teacher needs.
  • Consult with teachers to develop appropriate strategies for addressing the needs of students.
  • Demonstrate and model research-based instructional strategies.
  • Promote using instructional technology to engage students and improve learning.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of instructional programs through observations, campus and district test data, and assessment instruments.

 

  • Work with administrative staff to develop, coordinate, and deliver teacher professional growth activities in content and program areas.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and other documents.
  • Work with Science Coordinator to develop, maintain and revise the elementary Science curriculum to align with new Science standards. 
  • Work with Science curriculum coordinators, campus principals, and the Executive Director of Leadership to ensure effective implementation of effective instructional strategies across the district.
  • Comply with federal and state law policies, State Board of Education rules, and the local board policy.

 
    Additional Responsibilities:
 

  • Articulate the district's mission, curriculum design, and instructional philosophy to the community and solicit its support in realizing the district's mission and goals.
  • Use appropriate and effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  • Communicate to district staff, parents, students, and community members in a manner that conveys respect, concern, and high expectations.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Foster rapport between the district and the community through positive involvement in civic activities.
  • Pursue professional development through reading, attending conferences, and being involved with related agencies and organizations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.  

    Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • None.
