Assignment: Application System Specialist I-Student Systems

Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the implementation, training, support, and administration of district enterprise applications. Regarding these systems, this individual will also supply custom reports, maintain application documentation, and be responsible for the education of district staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred. May substitute solid years of technical support experience for education on a year for year basis.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Preferred experience administrating a student information system (e.g., Skyward)
- Preferred experience supporting large enterprise software systems
- Preferred experience generating data/reports from enterprise software systems
- Experience delivering instruction to K-12 campus users on enterprise software products
- Experience providing excellent customer service
- Familiar with administrating student information systems (e.g., Skyward)
- Familiar with the standard operations of Texas public schools (e.g., Attendance, Grades, Courses, Enrollment)
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Capable of understanding data requests and generating associated report requirements
- Capable of providing excellent technical support via phone, email, or other methods
- Capable of providing training to users on enterprise software products (e.g., Skyward)
- Possesses a strong attention to detail
- Possesses a strong customer service focus
- Ability to prioritize effectively and handle shifting priorities
- Ability to move easily between projects involving different technologies
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support and administration of district-wide enterprise programs
- Responsible for the application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications
- Responsible for a general understanding of all applications supported in order to provide the best possible solution for the customer.
- Responsible for the successful and timely resolution of assigned technology support tickets
- Responsible to advocate for the customer needs
- Maintain a partnership relationship with the district vendors
- Report software problems to the vendor
- Update and configure software applications
- Test all updates and changes to the application in the development environment before implementation into the production environment
- Train district staff on enterprise applications
- Create and update instructional material for the application that incorporate LISD business processes
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board policy

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals
- Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting
- Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching
- Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds)
- Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; occasional districtwide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.
- Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
