Primary Purpose:

Provide support for the Student Information System (SIS).  Responsible for monitoring resources to support SBISD’s SIS and related applications. Use reporting tools to write/maintain reports for campuses and departments. Troubleshoot and support 3rd party software applications and maintain interfaces with the SIS.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Preferred).

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and timelines.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize, be flexible and meet strict deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to learn new technologies by reading, self-paced practice and minimal one-on-one training.
  • Ability to organize data into meaningful reports.
  • Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Experience:

  • SIS experience (Skyward Experience Preferred).
  • Training experience preferred.
  • An understanding of PEIMS reporting.         
  • Knowledge of SQL and Crystal Reports.
  • Two (2) plus years of hands-on working experience with database development, data modeling, stored procedures, views.
  • Gather business requirements, define technical scope, help create project plans and keep technical documentation.
  • A working knowledge level of Windows server operating systems.

Major Duties and
Responsibilities:

SIS Implementation/Maintenance & Updates

  • Work with vendors and SBISD staff with regards to maintaining and updating SBISD’s SIS Software and related interfaces with third party software.
  • Oversee extraction of data for reporting.
  • Collaborate in the design, programming and implementing software/reports to assist end-users.
  • Has working knowledge of relational databases, and able to write scripts, stored procedures and reports.
  • Assist in data maintenance for reporting to State and Federal entities.
  • Provide user assistance/training for applications.
  • Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot application problems and updates.
  • Provide after-hours support when needed.
  • Work with other departments in development and implementation of district policies related to technology.

Other:

  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Computer and various office equipment.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
  • This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands:

  • Repetitive hand motions.

  • Work after-hours, as necessary.
