District: Turkey-Quitaque ISD (Valley School) Position: Head Girls Basketball Coach (Secondary Teaching Field Required) Contract: 10-Month (Commensurate with coaching duties) Reports to: Athletic Director / Principal / Superintendent

We are seeking a high-character, disciplined, and visionary leader to take the helm of our Lady Patriot Basketball program and continue our tradition of success both on and off the court.

Position Summary

The Head Girls Basketball Coach will oversee all aspects of the 7-12 Girls Basketball program. As a small rural school, the successful candidate must be a "program builder" who is visible in the elementary and junior high ranks. This role requires a leader who balances competitive fire with a commitment to the academic success and personal growth of our female student-athletes.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Program Leadership & Strategy
  • Varsity Management: Direct all aspects of the Varsity team, including practice planning, game strategy, and bench management.
  • Vertical Alignment: Develop and implement a unified system of play (offense/defense) from Junior High through Varsity to ensure long-term program stability.
  • Off-Season Development: Lead a comprehensive off-season strength and conditioning program and coordinate summer league/camp opportunities.
  1. Athletic Director Collaboration
  • Budget & Equipment: Manage the girls' basketball budget responsibly, overseeing the procurement and maintenance of uniforms and equipment.
  • Scheduling: Coordinate game schedules, officials, and transportation in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
  • Staff Supervision: Mentor and evaluate assistant coaches to ensure a cohesive coaching staff.
  1. Student-Athlete Welfare & Academics
  • Academic Monitoring: Ensure all athletes meet UIL eligibility requirements and maintain high standards in the classroom.
  • Character Mentorship: Model sportsmanship, integrity, and discipline; hold athletes accountable to a high standard of conduct as representatives of Valley School.
  • Recruitment/Placement: Assist student-athletes in pursuing collegiate opportunities where applicable.
  1. Community Relations
  • Engagement: Maintain transparent and professional communication with parents.
  • Youth Programs: Organize and/or lead annual youth basketball camps to foster excitement for the program in younger grades.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Certification: Valid Texas Teaching Certificate; CDL (or willingness to obtain) for driving team buses is required.
  • Experience: Previous head coaching experience preferred; proven track record as a successful coordinator or assistant in a winning program will be considered.
  • Skills: * Deep technical knowledge of basketball fundamentals and modern schematic trends.
    • Strong organizational and motivational skills.
    • Understanding of UIL rules and compliance.
