JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate and manage the ESC-20 Student Data Support team. Oversee the delivery and support of the ASCENDER student software. Supervise PEIMS (Public Education Information Management System) related activities in alignment with regional LEA (Learning Education Agency) needs. Provide ongoing training, related to the acquisition and support of clients. Provide leadership in alignment with ESC-20 service standard expectations. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Master’s degree from an accredited university required; major in education, computer science, or related field preferred.

Three to five years of relevant experience as a PEIMS Coordinator required.

Three to five years of experience with Texas Computer Cooperative software required.

Three to five years of public education teaching and/or administrative or related school/district experience preferred.

Demonstrated competency in management.

Demonstrated leadership skills required.

Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity associated with the collection and transmission of PEIMS data and student data elements.

Experience with using school finance/student administration software from various software vendors.

Experience using help desk systems and /or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.

Knowledge of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Attendance Accounting Handbook, Texas Education Data Standards (TEDS), and the Financial Accounting Resource Guide.

Demonstrated excellence in training and presentation skills, including development of training materials.

Demonstrated mastery of PEIMS and Core Collections submissions as mandated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). 

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency with standard functions within electronic applications such as MS Office (e.g., word processing, electronic spreadsheets) and e-mail.

Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include desktop management, file management and operations, and working in a network environment.

Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.

 

PRODUCTS/OUTCOMES

Ensure client requests for services related to PEIMS and student software support are promptly handled and products are delivered in a timely manner.

Oversee the comprehensive implementation of PEIMS during the school year for the interface of District/Campuses, Financial, Staff, and Student Applications set forth through the requirements of PEIMS.

Attend PEIMS training, TSDS webinar meetings, and PEIMS coordinator meetings to represent ESC-20 districts’ needs.

Ensure Student Data Support staff are knowledgeable in PEIMS requirements.

Coordinate the sharing of information related to PEIMS requirements and available PEIMS data with other divisions within the Center.

Promote the student services and products available through ESC-20 via user group meetings, conferences, and district demonstrations.

Facilitate workshops for application systems, reporting products, security system, and printing systems assigned to this component, including the development and revision of training material, to meet district needs.

Keep current on all new requirements regarding student testing.

Monitor the progress of client districts, identify problems encountered, and use problem-solving skills to determine 

the appropriate action necessary for resolution.

Read and interpret technical material.

Serve as a resource to ESC-20 district personnel in all aspects of the student data collection and submission requirements of PEIMS.

Ensure all billing for special requests and jobs run for clients are handled in a timely and efficient manner.

Write reports and create data downloads for clients using reporting and query software tools.

Manage client conversion/migrations to new administrative software and/or databases, including data extracts, client training, security setup, and programming changes.
